This Privacy Policy describes how Vocabulary Systems, Inc. handles information about you we get from our website, and from our game. In this document, our company, Vocabulary Systems, Inc., is sometimes called “Vocab Systems,” “we,” or “us.” We may also own other companies, or be closely connected to other companies (subsidiaries and affiliates). They’re also covered by this Policy. “You” means you, the user of our website, and our game. The website is vocabvictor.com. The game is our App for Apple and Android devices, Vocab Victor. The game may also be available on other devices, and on the web.
Your privacy is important to us. This Policy explains what information we collect, what we do with it, and how we protect it.
Browser information
When you access our website, we may collect and store information about your browser, your IP address, and what web pages you visit. The information sent back to us may indicate what kind of computer and operating system you have, and your preferred language. Your IP address may tell us your approximate location. Each time you click a page, that information is also recorded, along with the page you came from. All this information may be saved in log files (logs) on our servers. We may also use third-party services to help us track website usage. Those services may store similar information on their own servers.
This information is used to learn about who’s visiting our website, and to make it better. In most cases, to analyze this data, we combine it with that of many other users. If we suspect a problem with our website, we may look at individual log records in order to figure out what happened.
You can block or obscure some of the above information. Our website doesn’t need most of this information to work correctly.
Links to other websites
Our website may contain links to other websites. Those third-party websites are independent from us, and we don’t control what they show, or what they do. We’re not responsible for their content, or their own privacy practices. If you access a third-party website, you’re responsible for what happens. If you use a third-party website or program, and allow them to access your personal information, you do so at your own risk.
Device identification
We you play our game, we store some information on your device to identify it to our servers. This is necessary for the game to work. It allows us to track your progress as you play. We store the words you’ve seen, and how well you know each one, on our servers. Then we pick the best words for you, at the start of each game. This helps you learn faster, and keeps the game interesting.
We may also collect the make and model of your device (example: Apple iPhone 6), the version of your OS (example: iOS 11.1), and your device language. This information is used to learn about our users. In most cases, to analyze this data, we combine it with that of many other users.
Account information
When you Register in the game, we ask for your email address. We then send you a message to confirm your email. After you register, we also ask for your name, your gender, and your native language. This is optional, but helps us with our research.
If you register using Facebook, we ask you to confirm login to the service, and for access to the above information in your Facebook profile. In this case, we don’t send you a confirmation email.
If you Register on several devices, you can practice on all of them. The server will track your progress automatically, accross all devices. Each device will always show you the best words for you.
You can unregister from any device simply by deleting the game. This will completely remove your personal connection to that device, but your progress will be stored safely on our servers, linked to your email address or Facebook account. If you want to play on that device at a later date, you can install the game and register again.
Vocab Systems may, at its option, remove accounts that have not been accessed for a long time.
Device analytics
In addition to keeping track of which words you know, we track your activity while playing. We record how long you take to answer each question, and what your final score is. We may also collect some other, similar data. We may use a third-party service to do this. In most cases, to analyze this data, we combine it with that of many other users. We use this information to improve the game.
When you make a payment
When you make a payment, we may ask for your name, address, and credit or debit card number. We’ll provide this to our service provider to process your payment. In some cases, you may not have to provide this information directly to us when making a payment.
If you contact us
If you contact us directly, we’ll receive the contents of your message and any attachments you provide.
